High efficiency geocomposite water drainage/gas venting for landfill cells/caps and contaminated land capping.
The aztex draintube range of geocomposites can be used in the following applications:
- Drainage of surface rainwater and biogas - aztex draintube FT
- Drainage of leachate on slopes - aztex draintube UV2
- Drainage of infiltration water under the geomembrane - aztex draintube FT
Both the draintube FT and UV2 are designed specifically for each project using software developed by an independent laboratory. Not only do they offer drainage, they reinforce the mechanical protection of the geomembrane.

Draintube's Environmental Savings
When the aztex draintube is used as an alternative to a typical granular drainage layer of 300mm thickness it is possible to make a saving of 162 lorry loads of material. The typical example below illustrates the calculations.
300mm gravel filtration layer V 7,500/m2 of aztex draintube
(Complete with geotextile) (1 load of aztex draintube*)
Gravel layer (300mm deep) for 7,500/m2 = 7,500 x 0.3 = 2,250/m3 Gravel
Gravel weight 1.8tonne per /m3
2,250 x 1.8 = 4,050/tonnes
4,050/tonnes
________ = 162/lorries Gravel V 1 load Draintube
25/tonne
lorry
*Based on medium duty draintube
Summary of Environmental Savings
- Potentially massive savings in aggregate and haulage
- No additional requirements for separator geotexilte above granular layer as the aztex draintube has a geotextile layer as part of the geocomposite
- CO2 reduction via dramatical reduction in haulage requirements and excavation plant machinery
- Less on site digging requirements means less disturbance to eco-systems.
